Over the years, many of our
customers have expressed the concern that truly classically
started horses are altogether too rare.
The Pennsylvania Riding Academy
has begun to concentrate on producing young correct horses
for sale. We will offer several young horses throughout
the year, and we would ask interested people to check the
website regularly, but also to email or call, since some
horses may not be ready for the website, but might be available
shortly. In some cases, horses can be specifically prepared
for buyers.
These horses are either bred
here at our farm or are selected as prospects. All prospects
are rigorously selected for disposition and trainability
first, then for athletic potential. They have undergone
a thorough medical exam, including x-rays.
The education of these horses
has not been relegated to novice riders or working students,
nor hurriedly prepared for auction, but the opposite. They
are started by the most experienced FEI riders and are either
ridden by Paul Belasik or are directly supervised by him
in daily practices.
Our aim is to produce a horse
capable of providing a classical riding experience.
Training has begun on three coming 3 year old prospects from
our breeding program, whom will be available for sale this
Spring 2010. "Escarpa" is a large half-Andalusian
gelding by Excelso out of a Main Studbook Hanoverian mare. He
is sensitive but not foolish, big mover, a very handsome
horse. His full brother Exxum is proving himself to be an
exceptional dressage horse with a wonderful mind, and Escarpa
will certainly follow in his footsteps. He will be priced in
the $30-40K range. "Excelsa" is a purebred
Andalusian mare by Excelso out of Delirio, a mare imported
from Spain. She represents some of our best bloodlines, her
full sister is a spectacular horse with a 10 disposition. We
expect the same from Excelsa; she should mature 16.2-16.3hh.
She will be in the $40-60K range. "Corsana"
is a half-Andalusian mare, out of a Thoroughbred mare we
leased for several years because we were so impressed with her
foals. Corsana is very elegant, a beautiful mover and will
mature around 16.2hh. She is extremely intelligent and
friendly, taking to training very well. Corsana will mature to
be a striking performance horse; she will be in the $30-40K
range.
Coming 5 year old purebred Andalusian gelding.
Magnificent horse, 16.3hh, with the best disposition. He has
been in training for the last 2 years and knows all lateral
work, has a nice extension and has started on flying changes.
Very solid horse, no shying or misbehaviour. Comfortable gaits
with great presence. Exarca is a stunning horse with a
wonderful personality. Recent clean xrays, never lame. $45K.
"Wild" is a 15.1hh 9 yr old Lipizzaner gelding. Although this
horse is as safe and fun to ride as a schoolmaster, it is an
understatement because he is nowhere near the end of his
potential. Schooling Prix St. Georges, but offers one-tempis,
nice extensions, and half steps. Wild is a very sweet horse
with a one-of-kind mind. Absolutely sound with clean xrays. A
rare opportunity, he is pure enjoyment to train. Asking
$65K, includes custom Lauriche saddle, Kieffer bridle, HS bit
and sheet/blanket.
A once-in-a-lifetime Grand Prix
horse. Many people use the term 'schoolmaster' but Greta has
taught even timid low-level riders and instilled confidence,
yet on any given weekend she has competed FEI, earning such
titles as Region 1 Intermediaire 1 Reserve Champion, 3rd Place
BLM Intermediaire 1 Musical Freestyle Championship, and
Barbara Silverman Musical Freestyle Challenge Reserve Champion
FEI.
At 9 years old she has unlimited
horizons. Greta is one of the soundest horses we have ever
had, and has a clean medical history as well as clean xrays.
She is bombproof, yet at the same time, capable of striking
extensions, easy piaffe, and uncomplicated changes through the
one tempis. At 16 hands, she is a perfect size, with extremely
comfortable gaits, and an impeccable work ethic. Greta truly
fits the description of a perfect horse for an amateur who has
serious ambitions.
At 17.2hh, this 4 year old gelding by Excelso out of a
Thoroughbred mare, is an impressive, stately horse. He is a
big mover, but is not a heavy-bodied cold-blooded type of
horse; he is light in the bridle and has comfortable gaits.
Lieto is reminiscent of a master's horse in fox hunts: a big,
majestic grey looming above the field's horses. Fun, playful
personality, this is the perfect horse for someone who needs a
large horse with a good mind and athletic ability. Lieto has
three good gaits, and is starting lateral work and counter
canter.
Novena, a
purebred Andalusian coming three year old filly by Excelso, out
of Delirio. Delirio is a 16.3hh PRE mare imported from Spain.
She is a powerful mover, very light with amazing natural
balance. I have seen Delirio loading onto a trailer set back in
a perfect low levade, hold it for several seconds, then lightly
place each front foot down and walk onto the ramp of the
trailer. Delirio is a joy to ride with the most comfortable
gaits you can imagine. Novena is the kind of mare that breeders
never sell, however we can offer her for sale because our goal
is to provide our customers with the best horses, and we have
her younger full sister which we will keep for our breeding
program. Novena is a gorgeous mare with a tremendous sense of
discrimination and intelligence. There are few horses you can
feel almost certain that they can go to the top, but she is one
of them. Novena is a full sister
to Exarca, a four year old stallion who will hopefully follow
Excelso in the breeding program and is Paul’s personal riding
horse.
Exxum (1/2
bred Andalusian) is currently under contract. He is by Excelso,
out of our Hanoverian mare Denali. Denali was herself very
successful in Hanoverian breeding classes and has impeccable
breeding. Exxum is a grey gelding, coming three year old who
will mature around 16.3hh. He is people oriented, sensitive but
sensible; a strong horse with powerful movement but athletic and
graceful. He is light on his feet, a striking horse, very proud
with beautiful conformation.
Stunning grey 16hh 3 year old gelding by Grand Prix Hanoverian
stallion Donavan, out of a purebred Andalusian mare. He has a
wonderful calm disposition, but is bred to perform: he is a
beautiful, elegant, expressive mover; everyone who sees him
falls for him. He is started in training and shows excellent
balance, sensibility and work ethic. A pleasure to ride
everyday. Vetted with xrays.
Vistosa is a 4 year old, 15.3hh Half-Andalusian. She is a
striking mare, everyone notices her when she works. She
is forward, yet very sane and sensible. Vistosa is a beautiful
mover, powerful and expressive, with very comfortable gaits. She
starting lateral work, has a good work ethic and is a pleasure
to train everyday. Vetting with xrays.
6 year old 15.3hh pure Iberian
gelding
(7/8 Andalusian, 1/8 Lusitano), bay with three white ankles. He
had tremendous character; he likes to cock one ear and when it
gets caught in his long mane, he looks like a Velazquez painting
come to life. He has a great personality for a partner.
Forbito is a very well balanced horse both mentally and
physically, he loves people and his work, a safe horse with
highest potential. Solid 2nd level, beginning to work on
collection. Shows talent for upper level work. Vetted with xrays.
15.3hh 4 year old Half-Andalusian
gelding. This horse is a horse of a lifetime. Extremely light,
balanced and uphill, he is already showing definite aptitude
for the upper levels of dressage, both physically and mentally.
Very baroque purebred looks, with beautiful expressive movement
and an almost-iridescent burnished bay coat.
Audaz is a barn favorite, is like a big pet on the ground,
and is accepting of everything presented to him. He is absolutely
quiet and reliable, loves to work, and is sweet and affectionate
towards people.
He has started all of his lateral work and counter canter.
This horse is an absolute blast to ride!
8
year olf 16.1hh Andalusian/Swedish Warmblood mare. Grey, very pretty
and calm, nice mover, VERY comfortable. Has all lateral work and
counter canter. Has been in school program for last 2 years. She will
occasionally stop and look at strange things, but is very safe, has
never bucked or bolted. Would not be suitable for an extreme novice or
very timid rider, but if you have a limited budget and are willing to
put time, patience and regular riding into this horse, she could be
quite nice. Easy keeper, sound and healthy, vetted 2 years ago with
xrays.
16hh 3 year old 15/16 Andalusian
mare. This is one of the nicest horses we have started. She
is by Excelso, who is consistently winning at Grand Prix,
under such judges as 'O' judge Axel Steiner. She is out of
the 7/8 Andalusian mare, Elegante Francesca. This mare is a
full sister to a horse we sold a couple of years ago, Toros
Bravos, who can be seen in a soon-to-be-released film, "The
Lost Quixotes." Bravos is a 17.1hh beautiful copper bay.
Tina has an outstanding temperament; she never shies or misbehaves.
Every day it is a pleasure to ride her. She works alone or
with other horses, and has started lateral work and counter
canter.
She has natural flying changes in the field and on the longe,
like all of the Excel offspring. She is a beautiful mover,
extremely comfortable to ride. Valentina has unlimited potential,
with a solid 10 for disposition.
